The HGM2020 organising committee are pleased to offer the ‘HGM2020 award for Indigenous Genomics’ and the ‘HGM2020 international travel award’ to encourage attendance to the HGM2020 meeting.

The HGM2020 award for Indigenous Genomics

The award is open to those studying or working in Australian Indigenous genomics to attend the HGM2020 meeting. Indigenous Australians are highly encouraged to apply. The HGM2020 award for Indigenous Genomics Researchers is proudly supported by the Telethon Kids Institute.

The HGM2020 international travel award

The HGM2020 international travel award aims to provide financial support to researchers from Low and Lower Middle Income Countries (LMIC) who would not otherwise be able to attend the meeting.

Award funding

Funding for both of the awards is limited so will be allocated on a “needs basis”. Applications for partial support are favoured but in exceptional cases, full costs may be requested. Applicants can apply for any combination of the following. Waived registration. Flight costs. Accommodation costs.

Application deadline: December 16th

Notification of funding: January 31st 2020

Application conditions

Funded applicants must attend all days of the meeting. Early and mid-career researcher applicants must also attend the EMCR symposium on Sunday the 5th.

All applicants must provide an abstract as part of their award application. Awarded applicants must be prepared to present (poster or oral) at the meeting. A maximum of one award will be given per lab.

Application Assessment

Applications will be assessed based on the quality of the provided abstracts. Award funding will be assigned on the basis of need.
